With the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) elections fast approaching, incumbent President Frederick Lartey Otu has outlined an ambitious vision aimed at taking the sport to greater heights across the country.

Ahead of the elective congress scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Accra, Lartey Otu has pledged to focus on four key pillars: developing athletes, empowering coaches, strengthening referees, and growing clubs.

Lartey Otu also emphasized the importance of coach education, promising continued capacity-building programmes and certification opportunities to equip coaches with modern techniques and international best practices. According to him, better-trained coaches will directly contribute to the development of elite athletes.

Recognizing the crucial role of officiating in the sport, he has also committed to strengthening the federation’s refereeing department through regular training, assessments, and exposure to international standards, ensuring Ghana continues to produce world-class officials.

Another major priority in his agenda is the growth of taekwondo clubs across the country. He believes expanding and supporting grassroots clubs will increase participation, nurture young talent, and build a stronger foundation for the sport nationwide.

As delegates prepare to head to the polls on July 18 in Accra, Lartey Otu’s message reflects a commitment to building a stronger, more competitive, and sustainable future for Ghana Taekwondo through investment in people, technical development, and grassroots expansion.
