The newly constituted Board of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF), led by President Frederick Lartey Otu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and advance the development of taekwondo in Ghana.
The visit, held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, brought together the new GTF leadership and officials of the GOC for discussions on the future of taekwondo, athlete development and the federation’s plans for the sport.
The GTF Board was recently constituted following the federation’s elective congress held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Frederick Lartey Otu retained his position as President, securing a third consecutive term, while Maxwell Theodore Alornyo was elected Vice President.
The new GTF leadership comprises:
- President: Frederick Lartey Otu
- Vice President: Maxwell Theodore Alornyo
- Secretary General: Kankpenuba P. N. Wisdom
- Technical Director: Simon Gluikpor
- Board Member: Hannah Akua Humphrey
Led by President Otu, the delegation used the visit to formally engage the GOC following the elections and to discuss areas where both organisations can work together to strengthen the sport.
The engagement is expected to deepen cooperation between the GTF and the GOC, particularly in areas including athlete development, technical advancement, grassroots programmes and preparations for major international competitions.
The visit also comes at an important time for Ghanaian taekwondo, with the new administration seeking to build a stronger foundation for the sport and create better opportunities for athletes to compete at the highest level.
The GTF leadership is expected to work closely with the GOC and other stakeholders to enhance Ghana’s presence in international taekwondo while ensuring that talented athletes receive the necessary support and development opportunities.
The meeting therefore marks an early step for the new GTF administration as it begins its mandate with a focus on collaboration, development and raising the standard of taekwondo in Ghana.
