Paralympic Games: Hon. Mustapha Ussif Charges Ghana Para Powerlifting To Win More Medals

Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Mustapha Ussif has charged the national Para powerlifting team (Black Optimists) to make Ghana proud by winning more medals at the upcoming Paralympic Games.

The Sports Minister urged the Ghanaian contingent to raise the flag of the country in Manchester ahead of the qualification trip to the United Kingdown.

He said this when the Black Optimists, led by the President Mr. Samson Deen paid a courtesy visit to him at his office.

As you are embarking on a Journey to Manchester for the qualification to Tokyo coming July, the whole country is behind you, we are praying for you, go and make us proud. As the National President of Paralympic said already, you are participating in Manchester it means, your 2022 Commonwealth games you are already there, but it’s only for the Olympic Games Japan Tokyo that you have to go and participate and qualify and am very sure, all of you are going there to qualify so that you can participate in the bigger platform in Tokyo, so that you will lift the flag of this great country high and make us also proud.

We are behind you, and the Ministry, on behalf of the government wants to assure you that we know you are going to go and come back home with medals”, Hon Ussif told the para- power lifters.

The sports Minster used the platform to urge the athletes and officials to play their Ambassadorial role with diligence since they will represent the Ghanaian population in the United Kingdom and on the world stage at large.

“Aside that, you also know that you are the Ambassador as you leave this country, you are now Ambassador of the country, so your behavior, your attitude, your actions can improve this country or damage this country. So as you embark on this journey, you have to know that you are representing the whole country, whatever you do, you have to know that, you are doing it on behalf of Ghana”, he concluded.

The Ghana Powerlifting team, (the optimists) is set to depart the shores of the country to Manchester in UK to participate in the Manchester 2021 Road to Takyo Para Powerlifting World Cup.

The tournament will also serves as the qualification to the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
