India’s Dev Vipul Patel produced a memorable finish to his campaign at the World Tennis Junior Tour/Tennis Foundation Ghana Open Series, claiming the J100 Accra Boys’ Singles title on Saturday, October 10, 2026, after defeating compatriot and No. 6 seed Om Verma in a thrilling three-set final at the National Tennis Centre, Accra Sports Stadium.
The tournament’s No. 1 seed demonstrated resilience and determination to overcome Verma 6-3, 0-6, 6-4, sealing the championship in a contest that underlined the competitive depth of the final week of the prestigious junior tennis series in Ghana.
For Patel, the victory was more than a title triumph. It was also a measure of redemption against an opponent who had denied him a place in the final during the previous week’s competition.

Verma had beaten Patel in the semi-finals of the preceding J100 week, winning the opening-set tie-break 7-6(5) before the match ended with a retirement at 4-1 in the second set.
However, Patel returned to the court with a different outcome in mind, responding to that disappointment with a composed performance when the stakes were highest. After taking the opening set 6-3, he was forced to regroup as Verma stormed back to win the second set 6-0.
With the championship hanging in the balance, Patel found his rhythm again in the deciding set, edging Verma 6-4 to secure the Boys’ Singles crown and bring his Accra campaign to a fitting conclusion.

The victory capped an impressive week for the Indian youngster, who also enjoyed success in the Boys’ Doubles competition.
Partnering compatriot Mannan Ashok Agarwal, Patel lifted the doubles title after the pair defeated Zayyan Virani and his partner in a closely contested final, winning 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 in a deciding match tie-break.
Winning both the singles and doubles titles gave Patel a memorable finish to the J100 Accra tournament, highlighting his ability to recover from setbacks and deliver when it mattered most.
The final week of the Tennis Foundation Ghana Open Series brought together promising junior players from different countries, providing a competitive platform for emerging talents to test their skills and gain valuable international experience.
As the curtains came down on the J100 Accra event, Patel’s singles triumph and doubles success stood out as one of the defining stories of the tournament’s closing day.

In the end, Accra witnessed a champion who turned last week’s disappointment into this week’s celebration, signing off with two titles and a performance to remember.
