Tunisia’s Amori Amine Stuns Favourite to Reach U-15 Boys’ Singles Semi-Finals at ITTF Africa Youth Championships
Tunisia’s rising table tennis sensation, Amori Amine, produced one of the biggest upsets of the 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Championships and Africa Cup by booking his place in the semi-finals of the U-15 Boys’ Singles competition at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra.
The talented youngster delivered a composed and fearless performance to eliminate Nigeria’s highly-rated Joseph Marvellous in the quarter-finals, securing a memorable victory that has firmly established him as one of the tournament’s breakout stars.
Amine’s impressive run has surprised many, with the Tunisian displaying exceptional consistency, quick footwork and remarkable composure against one of the competition’s favourites. His performances throughout the tournament have highlighted the depth of young talent emerging from Tunisia’s table tennis development programme.

The reward for his giant-killing display is a daunting semi-final encounter against Egypt’s Sameh Asser, the runner-up in the 2025 edition of the competition. Asser enters the contest with valuable experience and a proven track record on the continental stage, setting up a fascinating battle between an exciting newcomer and an established contender.
While Asser will be looking to use his experience to secure another place in the final, Amine will be eager to continue his dream run and prove that his quarter-final triumph was no fluke.
With a place in the U-15 Boys’ Singles final at stake, all eyes will be on the Borteyman Sports Complex as two of Africa’s brightest young talents go head-to-head in what promises to be one of the most exciting matches of the championship.
Amine’s remarkable journey serves as another reminder of the high level of competition on display at the 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Championships, where the continent’s next generation of table tennis stars continue to announce themselves on the biggest youth stage.
