Rugby Africa President Herbert Mensah Praises Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo for Support
Herbert Mensah, President of Rugby Africa, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo, for his invaluable support during the 2024 Women’s Rugby Africa 7s tournament held at the University of Ghana Rugby Sports Stadium in Accra.
Mensah praised President Akufo-Addo, saying, “I want to thank the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for his intervention in making this tournament possible.” He highlighted that Ghana made history by hosting twelve female teams in the Rugby Sevens Africa competition for the first time.
Mensah emphasized that without the President’s understanding and vision, the tournament wouldn’t have been possible. He also commended Ghana’s hospitality, stating that the country successfully hosted around 200 athletes, officials, and supporters.
The Rugby Africa President reiterated the association’s goal to develop the sport across the continent through infrastructure development, organizing tournaments, and more. Mensah noted that they are seeking nations willing to develop the game in Africa.
“We brought in athletes, officials, supporters, about two hundred people in Ghana for the tournament, and it shows that we have the level of hospitality that is unique in the country,” Mensah concluded.
