Ghana’s national men’s rugby sevens team, the Eagles, have officially departed for Mauritius ahead of the 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Championship, carrying the hopes of a nation as they prepare to battle some of the continent’s finest rugby teams.
The tournament will be held on June 20–21, 2026, in Mauritius, with matches taking place at SPARC in Cascavelle. Twelve nations will compete for continental supremacy in one of Africa’s premier rugby events.
Drawn in Pool B, Ghana will face formidable opposition from Madagascar, Uganda and Tunisia during the round-robin stage.
The championship pools are as follows:
Pool A: South Africa, Zambia, Nigeria, Mauritius
Pool B: Madagascar, Uganda, Ghana, Tunisia
Pool C: Zimbabwe, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Morocco
With preparations completed and confidence growing within the camp, the Eagles are determined to make a strong impression against some of the continent’s most established rugby nations.

This year’s tournament also forms part of the 40th-anniversary celebrations of Rugby Africa, adding further significance to an event expected to produce thrilling action, fierce competition and memorable moments.
