NSA Boss Commends Ashanti Regional Leadership, Kotoko, and Key Stakeholders for Driving Baba Yara Pitch Revival
KUMASI – The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has lauded the exceptional teamwork and commitment shown by stakeholders in the ongoing revival of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch, describing it as “a shining example of what united action can achieve.”
He singled out the Ashanti Regional NSA Director, Nana Gyaamah Darkwah, for her “exemplary leadership in rallying resources and mobilizing support” to restore the stadium’s playing surface.
The NSA chief also extended heartfelt appreciation to the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, for his unwavering backing, and to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, for his firm pledge to sustain support for the rehabilitation works.
Highlighting the collective spirit behind the progress made so far, the Director-General paid special tribute to Kumasi Asante Kotoko for stepping in to cover four days of allowances for Ghana National Fire Service personnel, who worked overnight shifts to water the pitch during the critical rehabilitation phase.
_“We are grateful to all stakeholders – from government representatives to sports organizations, technical teams, and the media – whose combined efforts are restoring the pride of Ashanti football,”_ he said.
Mr. Ampofo Ankrah reaffirmed the NSA’s commitment to completing the Baba Yara pitch upgrade to world-class standards and ensuring its maintenance as “a lasting symbol of sporting excellence for generations to come.”
The Director-General urged stakeholders to keep the momentum going, stressing that “with this level of unity and dedication, Ghana can transform its sports infrastructure and leave enduring legacies for both athletes and fans.”
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium is the home ground of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Ghana’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup 2025/26.
