Medeama SC’s CAF Champions League campaign has come to an end after a 3-1 defeat by TP Mazembe in the second leg of their first-round tie.
The result in the Democratic Republic of Congo saw Mazembe progress 4-1 on aggregate, having won the first leg 1-0 in Ghana.
Medeama faced a difficult task after conceding the advantage in the opening match and were unable to overturn the deficit against the experienced Congolese side.
Mazembe extended their lead in the second leg before Medeama pulled one back to give the Ghanaian side renewed hope.
However, Medeama could not complete the comeback as Mazembe added another goal to seal a convincing victory on the night.
The defeat ends Medeama’s hopes of advancing in Africa’s premier club competition, while TP Mazembe move on to the next stage with a 4-1 aggregate victory.
For Medeama, attention will now turn to their domestic campaign as they look to regroup after their early Champions League exit.
