Ghana’s unbeaten two-time WBO Africa Featherweight champion, John “The Expensive Boxer” Laryea, is set for the biggest challenge of his professional career when he travels to Argentina to face home favourite Adrian Maximiliano Robledo on August 15, 2026, in Buenos Aires.
Laryea, who boasts an impressive 17-0-1 professional record, will venture into hostile territory to take on the dangerous Argentine, whose record stands at 13-1-0, in what promises to be an explosive featherweight contest.
The bout is already generating excitement among boxing enthusiasts, with experts predicting a thrilling clash between two talented fighters. While Robledo will enjoy the advantage of fighting in front of his home crowd, Laryea’s unbeaten record and proven resilience make him a formidable opponent capable of silencing the Argentine fans.
Competing away from home presents its own challenges, and many believe the Ghanaian will need to produce a dominant performance to leave no room for doubt on the judges’ scorecards. A convincing victory or even a knockout would be the ideal statement against a boxer enjoying home advantage.
Laryea is no stranger to fighting outside Ghana. He has previously showcased his quality on the international stage with a memorable victory in the United States and also delivered a remarkable performance against fellow Ghanaian Holy Dorgbetor in their IBF African championship contest, proving he can rise to the occasion on the biggest stages.
The undefeated featherweight star is jointly managed by Baby Jet Promotions and Bronx Boxing Promotions, led by Samuel Anim Addo and renowned trainer Coach Carl Lokko, who continue to guide his impressive rise in professional boxing.
A victory in Buenos Aires would significantly strengthen Laryea’s credentials and could move him a step closer to earning a long-awaited shot at a world title. With his unbeaten record on the line, the Ghanaian champion has another golden opportunity to prove he belongs among the elite in the featherweight division.
