Prudential Life Insurance Ghana has officially launched the seventh edition of its flagship cycling event, PRURide 2026, with a renewed commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and environmental sustainability.
The launch took place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the VIP Room of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium under the theme: “Pedal for Health. Ride for a Greener Future.”
The event brought together key stakeholders from the sports, corporate and public sectors, including Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President Richard Kofi Akpokavie, Ghana Cycling Federation Secretary General Shabban Mohammed, Greater Accra Regional Director of the National Road Safety Authority Joshua Kwasi Quist, University of Ghana Director of Sports and Wellness Dr. Austin Luguterah, and representatives from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).
PRURide has become a movement – Prudential CEO
Delivering the keynote address, Mrs Jane Dornukuor Mingle, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, said PRURide has evolved beyond a cycling event into a movement that promotes healthier lifestyles, stronger communities and a greener future.
It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to the launch of the seventh edition of PRURide, a flagship initiative that has grown to become a powerful symbol of who we are at Prudential Life Insurance Ghana and what we stand for,” she said.

She explained that what started as a simple cycling event has grown into a national platform that inspires people to embrace healthier living while supporting environmental sustainability.
According to her, Prudential’s purpose is to be “Partners for Every Life and Protectors for Every Future,” emphasizing that protecting lives goes beyond financial security.
“It means promoting well-being, encouraging healthier choices and contributing to a cleaner, more resilient world,” she stated.
Jane Mingle noted that cycling not only improves physical and mental health but also provides an environmentally friendly mode of transportation that helps reduce carbon emissions and supports healthier communities.
She thanked the company’s partners, supporters and stakeholders for contributing to the success of PRURide over the years and urged Ghanaians to embrace this year’s theme by making choices that benefit their health, communities and the environment.

She also acknowledged Prudential’s distribution partners, including Standard Chartered Bank, Fidelity Bank, CalBank, Zenith Bank, Petra Trust and Lashibi Funeral Homes, as well as sustainability partners United Way Ghana, Junior Achievement (JA) Ghana, Africa Teachers Development Project (ATDP) and McKingtorch Africa.
Akpokavie calls for stronger partnership with Ghana Cycling
President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Richard Kofi Akpokavie, praised Prudential Life Insurance Ghana for its unwavering commitment to cycling development in the country.
He recalled participating in the sixth edition of PRURide and described the company’s support for cycling as commendable.
As the leader of the Olympic family in Ghana, I understand the importance of corporate sponsorship in the development of sports federations and athletes. Prudential deserves commendation for its continued investment in cycling,” he said.

Akpokavie, however, challenged the company to deepen its relationship with the Ghana Cycling Federation by moving beyond sponsoring the annual PRURide event.
“This is the seventh edition, and I believe it is time for the relationship between Prudential Life and the Ghana Cycling Federation to move from the dating stage to the marriage stage,” he remarked.
He explained that becoming an official partner of the federation would enable Prudential to support year-round cycling activities, athlete development, equipment acquisition and international competitions that help Ghanaian cyclists qualify for major global events.
University of Ghana plans to establish cycling club
The Director of Sports and Wellness at the University of Ghana, Dr. Austin Luguterah, congratulated Prudential Life Insurance Ghana for sustaining PRURide over the past seven years.
He applauded the company for consistently supporting cycling, describing it as one of the lesser-known sports in Ghana.
“It is not everyone who chooses to associate with a lesser-known sport. For Prudential to support cycling for seven consecutive years shows they see the immense potential in the sport,” he said.

Dr. Luguterah revealed that the University of Ghana is planning to establish an official cycling club following discussions with the Ghana Cycling Federation.
He explained that the university is committed to providing opportunities for students to participate in a wide range of sports and believes cycling will become an important addition to its sporting programmes.
PRURide 2026 event schedule
