Ghana Rugby has paid glowing tribute to the team of instructors and educators whose expertise powered the success of its 2026 Training & Education Programme, a key initiative aimed at strengthening the sport’s foundations across the country.
At the heart of the programme was a clear objective – to raise standards in coaching, officiating, and player welfare – and the impact of the instructors proved decisive.
Their combined knowledge and hands-on approach provided participants with practical tools and deeper insight into the modern game.
Leading the coaching segment were Mr Denver Wannies, Madam Rafatu Inusah, and Mr Ouro-Koumoni Mahawiya, who guided attendees through the technical and tactical demands of rugby.

Their sessions focused on building well-rounded coaches capable of nurturing talent at all levels.
In officiating, Mr Robert Bwali and Mr Clement Dennis delivered detailed instruction on the laws of the game, positioning, and decision-making, equipping referees with the confidence and clarity needed on the field.
Equally vital was the focus on player welfare. Mr Joseph Kalanzi, Madam Anne Tendai, and Madam Grace Essien spearheaded sessions on First Aid in Rugby and Immediate Care in Rugby (ICIR), reinforcing the importance of safety and preparedness in the sport.
A lasting impact beyond the classroom
Ghana Rugby acknowledged that the contribution of these instructors extended far beyond the training sessions.
Their professionalism, depth of knowledge, and commitment created an enriching learning environment that will have a lasting ripple effect across clubs, schools, and competitions nationwide.

By investing in education and capacity building, the union continues to lay a strong foundation for sustainable growth.
And through the dedication of these instructors, the future of rugby in Ghana is not only being taught – it is being shaped.
