General Ahmed Nasser, President of the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC) Holds Meeting with National Federation Heads to Plan for Accra 2023 African Games 

On February 23, 2023, General Ahmed Nasser, President of the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC), held a meeting with selected National Sports Federation heads at the secretariat of the 13th African Games, Accra 2023.

During the meeting, General Nasser provided a briefing on the tasks ahead and requested that the Federation heads submit technical requirements regarding facilities and logistics needed. This information will form part of determining the new date for the Games and making the sports code an Olympic qualifier.

General Nasser expressed that the majority of the confederations and international federations are ready to support the local federations in Ghana in the organization of the Games.

He encouraged the Federation Heads to liaise with the confederations and international bodies for assistance and assured them of his follow-up in ensuring they receive the required help from their respective international Confederation heads and federations.

The National Federation heads shared their unique challenges and sports programs, while the Executive Chairman of the LOC, Dr Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, assured them of the LOC’s support in addressing their challenges.

General Nasser expressed optimism that Ghana would host an exceptional African Games, stating that “This is GHANA, and the African Games must be exceptional. The Accra 2023 Games should be better than the 2019 Rabat Games, and Ghana deserves to leave a legacy with this African Games. We must all come together to support this dream.”
