Frederick Lartey Otu Re-elected Ghana Taekwondo Federation President After Winning 2026 Elective Congress
Frederick Lartey Otu has been re-elected as President of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) after securing victory at the federation’s 2026 Elective Congress held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.
Otu, who sought another term to continue his leadership of the federation, polled 16 out of the 27 valid votes cast to defeat challenger Charles Tsibo Cromwell, who garnered 11 votes.
His victory reflects the confidence delegates have in his leadership and the progress made by the Ghana Taekwondo Federation during his previous tenure. Under Otu’s administration, Ghana Taekwondo has strengthened its presence both locally and internationally, while expanding athlete development and increasing the federation’s representation within continental and global taekwondo structures.
The congress also elected other key officials to serve on the federation’s executive leadership.
In the race for Vice President, Maxwell Theodore Alornyo emerged victorious with 14 votes, ahead of Hamidu Abdel-Fatao, who secured 10 votes, while Martin Prince Oppan finished with three votes.
Three members were also elected to the federation’s board. Kankpenuba Peter N. Wisdom and Simon Koku Gluikpor each received 16 votes to earn places on the board, while Stephen Amegashie secured the final position with 12 votes. Terrance Asare polled 10 votes.
The successful conduct of the elective congress marks another important chapter for the Ghana Taekwondo Federation as it prepares to build on recent gains and pursue greater success in athlete development, grassroots promotion, and international competitions.

With a renewed mandate, Frederick Lartey Otu is expected to continue implementing policies aimed at strengthening the federation, enhancing governance, and positioning Ghana as one of Africa’s leading taekwondo nations.
