800 Fans, $9,250 Each: Sports Minister Kofi Adams Details Ghana’s World Cup 2026 Supporters Plan
Sports Minister Kofi Adams Details Ghana’s World Cup 2026 Supporters Plan
Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has revealed that the country will limit its official supporters’ contingent to just 800 fans for the FIFA World Cup 2026, as part of a structured and cost-managed travel arrangements.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View with Bernard Avle on Monday, March 30 the Minister broke down the financial and logistical framework behind the decision, noting that each supporter will be required to pay $9,250. The package, he explained, will comprehensively cover airfare, accommodation, and local transportation throughout the tournament.
According to Adams, the move is aimed at ensuring efficiency, proper coordination, and a more organized representation of Ghana at the global showpiece. He emphasized that while the number may appear limited, the focus is on quality experience and effective management rather than sheer volume.
“The idea is not just to send numbers, but to ensure that those who go are well catered for and properly organized,” he stated during the interview.
The Minister also hinted that the structured approach would help avoid the challenges Ghana has faced in previous tournaments, where issues of accommodation, movement, and coordination among supporters often became problematic.

The announcement has already sparked conversations among football fans, with many weighing the cost against the once-in-a-lifetime experience of supporting the Black Stars on the world stage. While some have expressed concern over affordability, others see the package as a comprehensive and convenient option given the scale of the tournament.
With the FIFA World Cup 2026 set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, logistical planning is expected to be more complex than previous editions—making the government’s early preparations a key step in ensuring Ghana’s presence is both visible and well-organized.
As anticipation builds, attention will now turn to how the selection process for the 800 supporters will be handled, and whether additional options may be created for other fans hoping to make the trip.
