Accra, Ghana — Tuesday, September 15, 2026: Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has visited the National Tennis Centre in Accra to lend his support to the ongoing Tennis Foundation Ghana (TFG) and International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour Juniors tournament.
The Minister was accompanied by National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and his Deputy, Miss Veronica Commey, during the visit, which provided an opportunity to witness some of the international junior tennis action taking place at the facility.
The visit offered a refreshing reminder of the growing presence of sports disciplines beyond football at the national sporting facilities.
During his interaction with organisers, players and officials, Kofi Adams commended Tennis Foundation Ghana and its partners for their consistency and commitment to hosting international junior tournaments in Ghana.

The Minister also encouraged TFG to strengthen its collaboration with the Ministry of Education as part of efforts to introduce more young people to tennis and create a broader pathway for talent identification and development across the country.
The partnership between sports and education, he noted, could help bring the sport closer to schools and give more young athletes the opportunity to discover and develop their potential in tennis.
The TFG/ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors tournament began on August 31, 2026, at the National Tennis Centre and will run for six weeks, concluding on October 10.
The tournament features three levels of international junior competition, with the J30 Accra events already completed. Attention has now shifted to the J60 Accra, which got underway on September 14, before the competition concludes with the J100 Accra event.
The tournament has attracted junior players from Ghana and several countries across Africa and beyond, providing young athletes with valuable international competition and an opportunity to earn ranking points and gain experience on the world junior tennis circuit.
For Ghanaian players, the event also provides the advantage of competing on home soil while gaining exposure to international-standard competition without the additional travel costs associated with competing abroad.
The continued staging of the tournament reflects the growing ambition to position Ghana as a destination for international junior tennis and create sustainable development opportunities for the next generation of players.
With the J60 now underway and the J100 still to come, the National Tennis Centre remains a hub of junior tennis activity as Ghana continues to welcome young talents from around the world.
