The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, graced the opening ceremony of the 2025 Africa AirBadminton Championships at the Laboma Beach Resort.
The event brought together top-tier athletes from 10 countries worldwide, including Ghana, Togo, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Mauritius, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, and Central Africa Republic.
The championships showcased both traditional badminton and the fast-emerging AirBadminton discipline, promising an electrifying experience. The tournament featured competitions in Team Relay, Women’s Triples, and Men’s Triples, with the highest-ranked teams in the Team Relay event earning a qualification spot for the AirBadminton World Cup 2025 in the UAE.
The president of the Ghana Badminton Association, Mr. Evans Yeboah, delivered a welcome address, GOC President Richard Akpokavie ESQ, while remarks and Badminton Confederation Africa president Mr. Bau Tukebana Michael.

This event marked a significant moment for Ghanaian sports, as the country hosted a major international badminton event for the first time, providing African players with a golden opportunity to compete on the world stage and inspire the next generation of talent across the continent.
