‘Pray For Us’- Black Satellites Skipper Afriyie Barnieh

Captain of the Black Satellites, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has asked for the total support and prayers from Ghanaians as they prepare for their WAFU U-20 championship opener with Nigeria.

The National U-20 male side are competing at the WAFU Zone B championship which serves as a qualifier for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The Black Satellites; conquerors of West Africa, Africa and the World in 2009 are seeking to emulate the feat once again. Coach Karim Zito’s side begin the journey with tough group ties against Ivory Coast and Nigeria [with the top two teams advancing to the semi finals].

The duel with Nigeria takes place on December 9 at 3pm GMT, while the Ivory Coast encounter takes place 3 days later.

The Hearts of Oak who understands the enormity of the task at hand has asked for support and prayers from Ghanaians to ensure their set targets are achieved.

“We need Ghanaians to pray for us and keep supporting us. Our training sessions have been intense and shows we are very serious. They should support us and we will deliver victory for them on Wednesday,” Afriyie told FMIG from the team’s training base [St. Louis Stadium] in Krake, Benin.

Nigeria and Ivory Coast drew 1-1 in the first game and with the group having 3 teams, Ghana needs a win from 2 games to book a semi final berth.

Daniel Afriyie is urging for support from home as the players fight with their all to ensure victory and qualification is secured. “They [Ghanaians] should not lose sleep over our qualifications chances. We will need them to pray for us. We will do everything possible to win the trophy for Ghana,” he noted.
