Today in sports History: Immigration Ladies beat Sea Lions to win maiden Ama Pele tournament trophy

On this day 11th December, 2019 [Exactly 3 years today] Immigration Ladies FC defeated Sea Lions 2-1 to won the maiden edition of Ama Pele Mini Tournament at the St. Thomas Aquinas SHS Park.


The champions took an early lead in the 19th minute through Gifty Appiah after finishing off a pass from Faustina Kyeremeh.

But Sea Lions scored the equaliser in the 64th minute but that celebration was cut shor as Immigration took the lead again one minute later with striker Kyeremeh bagging the match winner.

Six female teams participated in the mini tournament; Police Ladies, Ridge City FC, Sea Lions, Ideal Ladies and Rock Ladies.

The tournament was organized by Ghana female international and Black Queen captain Elizabeth Addo as part of her effort to create more awareness for women’s football.

At the end of the competition, Immigration Ladies pocketed GHC 1,000, a trophy and two footballs whilst the running up got GHC 1,000.

Immigration Ladies’ Fustina Kyeremeh won the the most valuable player of the tourney.

Best Midfielder Zanabu Mumuni of Rock Ladies.

 

Sea Lions duo Martha Annan won the Best goalie and the best defender Cecilia Haghan.

Special awards to Doris Asiamah of Rock Ladies.
