Otto Pfister Names Abedi Pele and Samuel Eto’o As His Best Players In Africa

Former Black Stars coach, Otto Pfister has made it known that former Black Stars captain, Abedi Ayew Pele and Ex- Camerounian striker, Samuel Eto’o are his top-notch players after having coached on the African Continent.

In an interview with Fentuo Tahiru on Citi TV’s ‘The Tracker’ programme, he opined that Abedi Pele is one of the best playmakers in the world. He further described the former Black Stars skipper as being a true leader and a goalscorer.

He waxed lyrical about Samuel Eto’s qualities, describing him as a great player, having played for Barcelona and Inter Milan. He mentioned that one cannot say that Eto’o is as good as Abedi because they played in different positions. That notwithstanding, he still rates both players as the best the continent has produced.

Pfister led Ghana to win the 1991 FIFA U-17 World Championship that had notable players like Nii Odartey and Mohammed Gargo.

He later led the Black Stars to win silver in the 1992 AFCON held in Senegal. Ghana lost to Ivory Coast (10-11) after a marathon penalty shootout when the match ended in a stalemate in regulation time.

The gaffer has also coached clubs like Zamalek, CS Sfaxien and Al-Masry on the continent.
