Oba Femi continued his meteoric rise in WWE with the biggest victory of his career, defeating Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell in the main event of SummerSlam Night 1 at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
The dominant Nigerian-born superstar handed Lesnar his first-ever defeat inside the unforgiving steel structure, capping off what has been a remarkable debut year on WWE’s main roster.
Femi’s incredible run has seen him defeat “The Beast” at WrestleMania in April, win the King of the Ring tournament in June, and now conquer Lesnar once again in one of WWE’s most brutal match stipulations.
Following the emotionally charged contest, Lesnar showed immense respect to his younger opponent, raising Femi’s hand and declaring him the future of WWE.
“Here’s the future of WWE. This is the future, ladies and gentlemen. This is the past, this is the future,” Lesnar said as he endorsed Femi after the match.
The touching moment was met with an equally heartfelt response from Oba Femi, who paid tribute to one of the greatest superstars in professional wrestling history.

“We all know Brock is a beast. He presents as a beast, he’s a monster, he’s been dominant for 25 years. But he is still very much human. He’s a human being, he’s a man, he’s a father, he’s an athlete, he has feelings as well,” Femi said.
He continued by wishing Lesnar well in the next chapter of his life.
“So to Brock, I wish you all the best, man. I really do. Go hunting, do what you do, go be a father, go be a human being you’ve earned this. In the ring, in the cage, everything you’ve done, you’re the best. You’re one of the greatest minds in professional wrestling, and I hope when all this is said and done, everybody knows that.”
While CM Punk captured the Undisputed WWE Championship by defeating Cody Rhodes earlier in the night, Femi’s victory over Lesnar stole the spotlight and further cemented his status as one of WWE’s brightest new stars.
With victories over Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and SummerSlam already under his belt, along with a King of the Ring crown, Oba Femi has firmly established himself as one of the company’s top attractions, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what comes next for the man many now believe is the future of WWE.
