Ghanaian boxer – Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe wants to become a two-division champion on April 1 as he lock horns with Robeisy “El Tren” Ramírez in a 12-round showdown for the vacant interim WBO featherweight world title at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

Dogboe [24-2, 15 KOs] has a rapid championship rise at junior featherweight having beaten Cesar Juarez for the vacant WBO interim junior-featherweight title [via fifth-round stoppage] at the Bukom Boxing Arena on January 6, 2018.

The Royal Storm went on to face and beat Jessie Magdaleno on April 28, 2018 to capture the full WBO junior-featherweight title.

He successfully defended his WBO title with a first-round knockout against Hidenori Otake on 25 August 2018 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, US.

But, he lost his title and career momentum with back-to-back defeats to Emanuel Navarrete on December 8, 2018 and May 11, 2019 respectively.

The defeats to Navarrete forced the Ghanaian champion to overhaul his camp, linking up with decorated trainer Barry Hunter at Headbangers Boxing Gym in Washington, D.C.

The Dogboe/Hunter partnership has resulted in four consecutive victories, including majority decisions over Adam Lopez and Christopher Diaz. He earned a shot at the interim title with last July’s split decision over Joet Gonzalez, a toe-to-toe battle in Hinckley, Minnesota.

Speaking ahead of the fight against Ramirez, Dogboe said he would like to be crowned a two-time, two-division champion:

Nearly five years ago, I became the WBO junior featherweight champion of the world, to the shock of many people. On April 1, I will be crowned a two-time, two-division champion,” Dogboe said.

“Ramirez is a good fighter, and I commend him for his achievements. I’ve waited patiently for this opportunity, and I want to thank Bob Arum and the Top Rank family for being good to me over the years.

“My team and I are preparing for this life-changing opportunity. God Bless all the boxing fans and boxing enthusiasts for their continuous support.”
