The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) participated in the 2026 Level 100 Orientation Programme organised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports (PESS) at the University of Ghana, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the next generation of sports professionals.
Addressing the students, GRFU President, Madam Rafatu Inusah, delivered an inspiring and career-focused presentation that highlighted the wide range of opportunities available within the sports industry beyond active competition.
Drawing from her own journey from athlete to sports administrator, she underscored the importance of early volunteering, gaining practical experience, and embracing continuous learning as the foundation for building a sustainable career in sport.

She encouraged students to see themselves not just as future athletes, but as emerging leaders in areas such as sports development, coaching, officiating, administration, safeguarding, anti-doping education, and event management.
According to her, Ghana’s sports ecosystem requires well-trained, passionate, and committed professionals to drive long-term growth and transformation.

The session also showcased the collaboration between RightSet Ghana and the Ghana Rugby Football Union, which creates structured pathways for students to gain hands-on experience as Sports Development Officers.
Through this partnership, students can access mentorship, professional training opportunities, and real-world exposure within the federation’s operational framework.

Also present at the orientation were Samira Mensah, General Manager of the GRFU, and Rachel Ankomah, Director of Corporate Communications, further demonstrating the Union’s strong commitment to mentorship, institutional engagement, and youth empowerment.
Through strategic partnerships with academic institutions and youth-focused organisations, Ghana Rugby continues to bridge the gap between classroom theory and practical field experience — shaping the future of sports development in Ghana.
