Accra, July 8, 2025 – Ghana’s under-12 boys rugby team, the Eaglets, presented their gold medals to the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, after winning the Marie Kore International Rugby Tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
The team returned home as champions after defeating Ivory Coast 10–5 in a tough final. During a brief ceremony held today, July 8, 2025, the young players proudly handed over their medals to Mr. Ampofo Ankrah as a symbol of national pride and appreciation.

Mr. Ankrah praised the team for their bravery, discipline and outstanding performance on the international stage.
“This is more than just a victory. It shows what Ghanaian youth can achieve when given the chance,” he said. “You’ve made the whole nation proud. Keep working hard, stay disciplined, and remember that your education is just as important.”
He also hosted the team to a special lunch and assured them of the NSA’s full support in helping rugby grow across the country.

The Eaglets’ win marks a major milestone for Ghanaian youth rugby and reflects the commitment of the Ghana Rugby Football Union and its President, Rafatu Inusah, who led the team during the tournament.
