Erik Van Der Meer is set to join Hearts of Oak as Technical Director – Reports

Hearts of Oak are on the verge of announcing Dutch gaffer, Erik van der Meer as their new technical director.

The Phobians have had a torrid start to the 2022/23 season sharing spoils in their last two matches in the Ghana Premier League and losing once in their opening game against Aduana.

Hearts of Oak are keen on winning titles this season; however, the hierarchy of the club is believed to have agreed to appoint the 55-year-old former Dutch footballer to beef up the technical department of the club.

According to Footydreamsgh.com, the Board of Directors of the club headed by Togbe Afede XIV has approved the decision with the conviction coach Samuel Boadu needs a helping hand.

Van der Meer was at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday to watch the club’s league game against Asante Kotoko which ended 1-1 and official announcement is imminent.

Profile of the new Technical director:

Erik Van der was a professional defender for Netherland top tier league team, FC Utrecht scoring 9 goals in 205 appearances. He also featured for the Netherlands U21 team.

Eric holds a UEFA Pro License which means he is eligible to coach a team even in a UEFA champions league.

He has worked in 13 different teams in different roles – Team Manager, Academy Director, Assistant Manager and Director of football.

In 40 games as a Coach, he won 15, drew 10 and loss 15, scoring 59 goals and conceding 60.
