Ghana Premier League Matchday 9: Hearts Stumble, Dreams Finally Win as Asante Kotoko Hold Medeama SC

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League Matchday 9 produced an exciting weekend of football, with Accra Hearts of Oak suffering a setback, Dreams FC recording their first victory of the season and Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC sharing the spoils in a highly anticipated encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Nine matches were played across the weekend of October 31 and November 1, 2026, with six teams recording victories while three matches ended in draws.

One of the biggest talking points was Debibi United FC’s impressive 1-0 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak at the Debibi Presby Park on Sunday. The result brought the Phobians’ winning run to an end and handed them a disappointing setback in their pursuit of the league’s top positions.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC played out an entertaining 1-1 draw. Medeama took the lead through Usman Safianu in the 42nd minute, when he headed home Prince Owusu’s free-kick. Kotoko responded in the second half to secure a share of the points.

FC AshantiGold 04 also produced one of the weekend’s impressive performances, coming from behind to beat Swedru All Blacks 2-1 at the Swedru Sports Stadium.

Faisal Charwetey gave the hosts the lead in the seventh minute, but Zak Musah restored parity for the Elephants just seven minutes later. Frederick Twumasi then completed the comeback with a decisive strike in the 77th minute.

The victory ended AshantiGold’s difficult run of away results, while Swedru All Blacks saw their three-match winning streak and impressive 10-match unbeaten home record come to an end.

In Dormaa Ahenkro, Aduana FC claimed a convincing 2-0 victory over regional rivals Berekum Chelsea at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park.

Stephen Amankona was the hero for the Ogya Boys, scoring in the 43rd and 50th minutes to secure all three points in the Bono derby and return Aduana to winning ways after their previous defeat to Medeama SC.

Dreams FC finally celebrated their first league victory of the campaign after edging Basake Holy Stars 1-0 at the AAK II Sports Arena.

Bernard Kokonu scored the decisive goal in the 50th minute, capitalising on the advantage after Basake Holy Stars had been reduced to 10 men following Bismark Teye’s dismissal in the 33rd minute.

The result ended Holy Stars’ perfect home record and provided Dreams FC with a much-needed boost as they look to climb away from the bottom end of the standings.

Elsewhere, Heart of Lions defeated Bechem United 2-1, while FC Samartex secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars.

Vision FC and Port City FC played out a goalless draw, with Young Apostles and Karela United also settling for a 0-0 result.
