Ghanaian boxer Amadu Mohammed has secured a bronze medal in the men’s 55kg boxing event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, adding another medal to Team Ghana’s campaign.
Mohammed’s impressive run to the semi-finals came to an end after a closely contested bout against Australia’s Jye Dixon, who edged the Ghanaian by split decision to book his place in the final.
Despite the defeat, Amadu’s bronze medal is a significant achievement for both the boxer and Ghana, highlighting his determination, resilience, and fighting spirit throughout the tournament. His performance also reinforces Ghana’s proud boxing tradition on the Commonwealth stage.

The medal further boosts Team Ghana’s tally at the Games and serves as a testament to the hard work of the athlete, his coaches, and the entire Ghana Boxing Federation.
Although he narrowly missed the chance to compete for gold, Amadu Mohammed leaves Glasgow with his head held high after delivering a commendable performance against one of the tournament’s strongest contenders. His bronze medal stands as a reward for his outstanding effort and commitment to representing Ghana with pride on the international stage.
