Mr. Nunoo Mensah, who currently serves as Vice Chairman of the ANOCA Marketing Commission, announced that Amadu will receive GH¢15,000 if he wins the gold medal, GH¢10,000 for a silver medal, and GH¢5,000 for a bronze medal. During his tenure as GOC President, he led Team Ghana to several memorable achievements, including boxer Samuel Takyi’s historic bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, ending Ghana’s 29-year Olympic medal drought. Ghana also won five medals—two silver and three bronze—at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, while Team Ghana enjoyed another successful campaign at the 13th African Games hosted in Accra in 2024.

Beyond sports administration, HRH Nii Kojo Ashifie Papanyira I is a board member of the Tema Oil Refinery> and serves on both the ANOCA Games Commission and the Working Group on the African Games.

Amadu Mohammed is Ghana’s only boxer assured of a medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after progressing further than the country’s other boxing representatives. The reigning African bantamweight champion will face Australia’s Jye Dixon in the men’s 55kg bantamweight semi-final on Friday, July 31, with a place in the gold medal bout at stake.

Ranked Africa’s number one bantamweight, Amadu is determined to add a Commonwealth Games medal to his growing list of achievements after narrowly missing out on gold at the 13th African Games in Accra in 2024.

The Ghana Boxing Federation has rallied behind its star boxer, urging him to seize the moment and join the ranks of Ghana’s boxing greats by fighting for Commonwealth Games gold.
