It was a pleasant, cool afternoon for the hundreds of Vision FC fans sitting on the terraces of the Tema Sports stadium, as they enjoyed their club beat True Demo 2-1 in an entertaining fixture to secure qualification to the National Division One League. There was an absolute joy and jollity at the stadium after the referee whistled to bring proceedings to an end. Ordinarily, the result would have been largely insignificant. Vision had already wrapped up qualification before the game.

Securing qualification to Ghana’s second tier was a return of favour for the hundreds of the fans who trooped the stadium to watch their heroes. They stayed loyal to their floundering love even in the club’s most difficult and tumultuous times. They didn’t give up hope, they didn’t stop fighting. They symbolised the essence of having a vision and working towards it regardless of the challenges.

After all, they hadn’t just qualified, they did it stupendous fashion, they had avoided defeat once again, in as many games en route to the Greater Accra Regional 2014/2015 Middle League. The Madina based club was paired with Charity FC, Accra Youth, Emmanuel FC, New Generation and True Demo. Triumphing in the Middle League without losing a single match would not have been a first, but for Vision FC, it was an unrivalled accomplishment in its own right.

Vision FC turned in an assured performance as the first test of final five proved to be a little more than a cinch. Thanks to goals from Tawfik Yakubu and midfield dynamo Michael Baidoo, they beat Charity Stars with a 2-1 win without too many frills. The ‘Eewo’ lads had largely avoided any scares on their way to the Middle League as they displayed real poise and ruthlessness, with Madina Miracles falling by the wayside in cagey play-off tie. The players’ mentality appeared impenetrable. Their will to dodge the disappointment of defeat saw them concede few goals in as many games as they concluded their season in grand style.

Accra Youth were the next club to face the wrath of Vision FC as the Derrick Appiah Addison-led side annihilated their opponents 3-0. Goals from Tawfik Yakubu, dribbling magician Alex Yamoah and Michael Baidoo made sure the youth team of Premier League side Inter Allies left the match venue hopeless.

In their next fixture against Emmanuel FC, Vision FC staged another impressive performance as they recorded a 3-0 victory before beating New Generation in the penultimate game to book qualification to the Division One League with a game to spare thanks to Tawfik Yakubu Mohammed’s lone goal.

We’ve seen, reached and touched great heights alongside our heroes, experienced moments of brilliance we’ll never forget, and learned to cherish the good times, in amongst all the heartbreak and agony. Football is also a game of dreams, surrounded by the crippling nightmares of reality. Vision FC only saw the vision but walked it to gain promotion into Ghana’s second-tier league.
