Uganda’s Lady Cranes closed out their tournament in impressive fashion, securing a bronze-medal finish after defeating Madagascar 38–12 in the third-place playoff.
The victory showcased their resilience and character, especially after falling to Kenya in the semifinals for the second consecutive year.
The result capped a remarkable campaign that firmly positioned the Lady Cranes as one of Africa’s emerging forces in women’s rugby.

Uganda’s journey began with a dominant 50–0 victory over Burkina Faso in the pool stage, followed by a hard-fought 20–14 win against a spirited Zambia side.
Their momentum continued into the knockout phase, where they overpowered Tunisia 31–12 to book a place in the semifinals.
Their attempt at reaching the final was halted by the hosts, Kenya Lionesses, who edged them 17–10 in a tightly contested match filled with intensity and tactical discipline.
Refusing to let the setback define their campaign, the Lady Cranes regrouped and delivered a clinical performance against Madagascar to secure third place with a commanding 38–12 win.
The East African country leaves the 2025 RAW7s with their heads held high, a medal in hand, confidence restored, and their status as a rising rugby powerhouse firmly reinforced.
