Hearts of Oak Is Existing Today Because of Togbe Afede XIV- Board Member

Hearts of Oak Board Member, Alhaji Brimah Akambi says the club’s supporters should appreciate Executive Board chairman Togbe Afede XIV for investing his money in the team admit the club’s debt.

It has emerged that the Phobians are in huge debt. The club’s debt was said to be GH¢21m weeks before their Annual General Meeting in 2018.

Meanwhile, the19 times league champions have had their head coach, Kista Papic, Assistant coach, Asare Bediako and Goalkeepers trainer Ben Owu all resigning in the space of two weeks.

Therefore, frustrated fans of the club have blamed Togbe as the problem since taking over as majority shareholder in 2009.

Reacting to the supporter’s backlash, Akambi felt disappointed in the fans for not showing gratitude to the former President of the National House of Chiefs for keeping the club alive.

“The structures of Hearts of Oak is simple. If we float Shares, somebody should come and buy and become the majority shareholder. There is nothing wrong with that. Maybe there’s somebody who can invest a lot of money.” He told Ash FM

“This is somebody that I expected that Hearts of oak supporters to be thankful for. If not for Togbe Afede, And I can quote it everywhere anytime, any day if not for Togbe Afede XIV, am sure Hearts of Oak wouldn’t have existed today.”
