‘I Was Not Sacked During My First Stint At Hearts of Oak – Kosta Papic

Head Coach of Accra Hearts of oak Kosta Papic says he was not sacked, but rather resigned from Accra Hearts of Oak in the 2008-2009 season.

The Serbian gaffer guided the Phobians to their 20th league title in 2009 but was relieved off his position after the Hearts lost 1-0 to a King Faisal.

Hearts had seen their 14 point lead at the start of the second round of the Glo Premier League whittled down to five with seven matches to end the season.

The Phobians had lost their last three matches as the season nears the final stages.

Papic joined the Phobians at the beginning of the season and had transformed a side that performed woefully in the past season which they finished 7th into title contenders this season.

However, the coach revealed in an interview with Kumasi-based Fox FM that he was not axed from position but rather left on a mutual consent, “I was not sacked from Hearts of Oak but I resigned”.

“What motivated me to return to Hearts of Oak is that I want to win Caf Champions League for the club”.

“Hearts of Oak current performance is not close to what I’m expecting, but still trying to change the players’ mentality”.

“We are going to fight for the league trophy”.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak, after winning the 2008-09 league title are yet to be champions again.
