World Kickboxing Association President Nonnemacher impressed with talent at African Open Championship

Mr. Klaus Nonnemache, President of the World Kickboxing Association (WKA) says he was impressed with the talent unveiled at the just ended 2023 African Combats Sports Open Championship.

The two-day event held at the Korea Sports Complex, at Tema Community 3 saw five sporting disciplines competing for glories.

Over 200 athletes compete in various disciplines including Kickboxing, Judo, Karate-Do, Martial Arts and Taekwondo winning gold and other goodies from the organisers.

In the kickboxing it was Seloom Darku who defeated Edmund Akator for the first position while Jonathan Lamptey beat Cossa Rashid to win the martial Arts contest respectively.

In the Judo male’s categories of Abdulla Idriss Sandor beat Vincent Boateng in the 60kg while Dommic Agudoo beat Frank Terkpor in the 66kg and Lambert Lambert Fiazuku defeated Nii Noi Nortey in the 73kg weight respectively.

In the Men open division Dallas Amenyese defeated Dominic Agudoo for the first place whereas Eveenly Dzato beat Elizabeth Oduro to win the women’s divisions.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Nonnemacher the championship seeks to discovered talent in the African continent.
He said, “the competition was really good, the referees are working and the tournament was nice, we had so many athletes in Africa and are seeking to discover them.”

“The athletes are great and at the moment the only thing is finance challenge and so we need to work on that.”

Mr. Steavano Kojo Tuekpe, President WKU of Ghana expressed his profound gratitude to Ghana and promised to make it annually.
He said, “I want to thank every one who came to support us, WKU President, the coaches, referees, the media together we develop Africa Open Tournament.”

“We are planning to extend the competition to other regions and to other Africa countries in future.”
