The Chief Executive Officer role at Asante Kotoko became vacant when the newly constituted board of directors led by erstwhile Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei dissolved the management of the club.

Phar Rangers financier, Nana Yaw Amponsah was heavily linked with the role until the Special Assistant to the Manhyia Chief of Staff ruled him out due to his supposedly inability to be secretive.

Since then Frederick Acheampong, formerly of Ashgold has been linked with the top job and quite recently Kojo Addae-Mensah, who has rejected the job outright.

I am not interested in the vacant Kotoko C.E.O job and I don’t think I will ever be interested in that position because I think there are a lot of people with vast experience in that field more than I do,” he told Kumasi-based Ashh FM.

Mr. Addae-Mensah explained the rationale behind his decision to reject the hot seat.

“The fact that I am successful at the banking field does not mean I will succeed as a club C.E.O and I think Kotoko should go in for people with in-depth knowledge in the running of football to occupy that position but I must say I’m grateful to be linked to such a huge platform,”

He also stressed on the appointment of square pegs in round holes which has not augured well for the club.

“On the issue of the board, I will say we have had board upon board and yet nothing has changed,”.

The Porcupine Warriors are set to unveil new management board in the coming weeks as they prepare to take on Africa in the 2021 continental football season.
