The Tokyo 2020 working sub -technical Committee of the Ghana Olympic Committe-GOC paid a courtesy call on the Black Bombers at the Accra Sports stadium today to interact with the boxers ahead of their preparations to the Games.
The team was led by 1st Vice President and Technical Head of the Ghana Olympic Committe, Mr. Paul Atchoe and his deputy, Shaaban Mohammed.
The visit sought to extend the support of the Ghana Olympic Committe in diverse ways as plans are far advanced in securing pre-camping facilities,insurance packages, medicals and qualification bonuses for deserving boxers and officials.
The team admonished the boxers to be disciplined and focused as the GOC is bent on offering its support to see them succeed at the Games.
The quality of residential camping and bonus plans for the pugilists is key on the agenda of the GOC and the 1st vice President rightfully mentioned that to the boxers which further elevated their morale.
The athletes were of great appreciation to the GOC sub working Committee for their visit and were confident of winning a medal for Ghana.
Coach Asare and the Vice President of Amateur Boxing Federation Mr. Abdul Samadu Mohammed expressed their delight at the gesture shown by the Ghana Olympic Committe and promised not to let the nation down.
Three boxers have so far qualified for Tokyo and it is the prime responsibility of the GOC to ensure all qualified athletes’ attained equal attention ahead of the Games.
