Taekwondo: Ghanaian Eunice Adedapo wins Gold Medal at TVBB Master Championship in Germany

Ghanaian Taekwondo national athlete, Eunice Omolara Adedapo has clinched Gold Medal in the -57Kg category, at the TVBB Masters Championship organized by Deutschland Taekwondo Union on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

The one-day championships held at the Berlin, Falkensee indoor sports hall saw some of the best athletes in Germany and other highly ranked across the World.

Adedapo went past Plaff Marbele by 14-10 in the semis after losing the first round 5-10 and went on to defeat Alizadeh Arian by 20-11 in the finals, winning two rounds (13:5 & 4:3) and 3:3 in the second round.

The determined athlete adds to her number of accolades won in international championships after several months of training in Germany and was coached by Head Coach ϋmit Kalkan and trainer Mohammed Saadaoui of the UK Sportive Taekwondo Club in Hamburg.

Eunice since landing in Germany had competed in Luxembourg Open and Polish Open but lost in the first round and quarter finals respectively.

She aims at competing in more championships to further prepare herself for higher ranked Taekwondo events, including qualification to the Olympics.

“I love taekwondo and for that matter want to give my all for it. It has not been easy but I am proud of myself for winning this medal. I see it as the beginning of the bigger goal. I am training and competing to gain enough points for the African Games and Olympic qualification tournament, as well as the ultimate which is the Olympic Games. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the UK Sportive Club for the training they are giving me and everything.” She told TalksenseSports

Eunice who missed out on the 2019 African Games in Morocco is poised to make Ghana proud as the nation prepares to host it in 2024. She made the semi final of the Olympic Games qualification in Morocco but unfortunately lost to Moroccan Nada Laaraj and missed out on the two that competed in Tokyo 2021.

Omolara, who is poised for a great taekwondo future has been training with the UK Sportive Club and being managed by head coach ϋmit Kalkan and trainer Mohammed Saadaoui.

She however needs more support to make her dreams a reality and open to any benevolent individual or a corporate entity that wants to invest in her.
