Sunyani Technical University hosts 2nd edition of HD+ Kids Armwrestling Championship

The Sunyani Technical University in Ghana was filled with excitement and competition on Saturday as it hosted the second edition of the HD+ Kids Armwrestling championship.

The event attracted scores of pupils from various Junior High and Senior High Schools across the region who came to witness the kids’ armwrestling reality show.

Over 120 kids competed in six boys and girls bodyweight categories, with the first three winners in all divisions taking home a cash prize, medal, certificate of participation, and an HD+ decoder.

The competition was intense, with the young armwrestlers showcasing their skills on the table.

In the boys’ lightweight division, Vincent Alo-an from All for Christ School emerged as the winner, defeating Caleb Peprah from Agape International School. Godlove Gyamfi from Guggisberg School won the bronze medal in the category.

In the boys’ middleweight division, Matthew Peprah from Oxford International School pinned Godfred Awuku from All for Christ School to win the category, while Emmanuel Hatsa, also from Oxford International School, won the bronze medal.

Christopher Dasorh from All for Christ emerged as the winner in the boys’ heavyweight division, followed by Clement Sampor and Philip Apprah All for Christ, who took home the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In the ladies’ lightweight division, Ernestine Ayi Hatsa from Oxford International School emerged as the winner, followed by Mariama Febir from All for Christ and Faustina Atanga from John Chris School.

Wendy Asamoah, Agnes Awuah, and Theresa Miuaah, all from All for Christ School, won the gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively, in the girls’ middleweight division.

In the girls’ heavyweight category, Yvonne Kyreh from All for Christ won the gold medal, followed by Lovina Kyeremah from Agape School, while Shakira Akwabea from All for Christ won the bronze medal.

Roddy Quaye, the Product Manager at SES HD Plus Ghana Limited, commended the participants for their outstanding performance and urged all the winners to continue training to put up a quality performance in the national finals.

He also mentioned that HD+ was committed to youth development and proud to partner with the Ghana Armwrestling Federation in sponsoring the event.

Charles Osei Asibey, the President and Founder of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration with SES HD Plus and thanked the participating schools for making the event a success.

He congratulated the winners and assured them of the federation’s support in preparing them adequately for the finals in Accra and making them future champions.

The next stop for the HD+ Kids Armwrestling train is the Greater Accra Region on May 27.

The HD+ Kids Armwrestling is a development initiative by the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF), sponsored by SES HD Plus, and supported by GNTV Junior, K-Ointment, ETV Ghana, Twellium Industries, among others.
