Savannah Region Rugby Association Inspires Students at D/A JHS Through Rugby Rising Play Ghana

The Savannah Region Rugby Association (SRRA) paid a visit to D/A Junior High School on November 21, 2025, as part of the Rugby Rising Play Ghana program. The initiative aims to promote sports development and empower students through rugby.

The session kicked off with a crucial health and hygiene education segment, where students learned about menstrual health from Madam Zelia. The students received guidance on personal hygiene, and a donation of sanitary pads was made to support the girls’ well-being. This thoughtful gesture is sure to make a positive impact on the students, particularly the young girls.

Coach Yakubu Abdulai and Suweiba took the students through the basics of rugby, teaching them fundamental skills, rules, and the importance of teamwork. The students were actively engaged and showed great enthusiasm as they participated in practical drills designed to build their coordination and confidence.

Nurudeen Miran, President of the Savannah Region Rugby Association (SRRA), delivered a motivational talk to the students, emphasizing the importance of discipline, respect, and personal growth. He assured the students that the Association is committed to developing rugby in the Savannah Region and across Ghana.

The SRRA expressed its sincere gratitude to the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) for their continuous support. The Association also thanked the school administration, teachers, coaches, and volunteers for their contributions to the program’s success.
