Only FOUR Clubs Will Use Accra Sports Stadium – NSA Supremo Prof. Twumasi Confirms

Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Peter Twumasi has urged the public to disregard the reports circulating in the media that six clubs will be using the Accra Sports stadium ahead of the forthcoming 2020-2021 football season.

The GFA Club Licensing Board recently announced the match venues for football clubs ahead of the start of the new season which kick starts in November. Key among the list was five clubs sharing the nation’s Wembley.

City rivals Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics have been the traditional users of the Accra Sports stadium but due to the renovation works at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi, record holders of the Ghana Premier League, Asante Kotoko will head to the capital while Legon Cities will also make use of the national facility plus Inter Allies, who have predominantly used the Tema Sports stadium will be using the Accra Sports stadium according to the list published by the Club Licensing Board.

But according to the National Sports Authority, caretakers of the nation’s Wembley, only four clubs have written to the state agency to make use of the facility in the upcoming 2020-2021 season.

“Disregard the reports circulating in the media that six (6) clubs will be using the Accra Sports Stadium for the 2020-2021 season,” Professor Twumasi told Nkunim 93.7 FM.

“I am the Director General for the National Sports Authority and am telling you that only four (4) clubs namely, [Accra Hearts of Oak, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Legon Cities and Accra Great Olympics] will be using the stadium.
