MATCH REPORT: Legon Cities 1-1 Asante Kotoko: The Royals fight back to draw with Uninspiring Porcupines in Accra

Legon Cities match week 24 game against defending champions Asante Kotoko ended 1-1 at the El Wak Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

The hosts squandered a corner kick after the champions got off to a quick start and pressed with their fullbacks.

In the seventh minute, the Royals made a fast reaction, but Michael Ampadu’s free kick ended up in the side net for a goalkick.

Richard Boadu, the skipper of the Porcupine Warriors, scored from the penalty spot in the 15th minute to give his team the advantage.

The home side carried on from where they left off in the second half. They frequently received free kicks just outside the penalty area, but their main difficulty was finding the back of the goal.

Brazilian attacker Medeiros pounced on a defensive blunder in the 57th minute to double Kotoko’s advantage, but goalie Sylvester Sackey deflected his attempt.

Legon Cities scored in the 70th minute thanks to a strike from Alex Aso.

Legon Cities is 14th on the league table with 28 points and Asante Kotoko is 6th with 35 points.

Cities will play Gold Stars in their next league game while Asante Kotoko will take on RTU.
