ITTF Africa President Wahid Oshodi Hails Emerging Stars as 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Cup Concludes in Accra

The 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Cup came to a successful conclusion at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana, with Africa’s brightest young table tennis talents delivering outstanding performances and signalling a promising future for the sport on the continent.

Nigeria’s Kuti Matthew emerged as the champion of the U-19 Boys’ Singles after a commanding run throughout the tournament, while Egypt’s Habiba Elbasoumy claimed the U-19 Girls’ Singles title with an impressive display of skill and composure.

In the U-15 categories, Egypt’s Sameh Asser capped off a flawless campaign by winning the Boys’ Singles title without losing a match, underlining his dominance at the championship. Tunisia’s Ela Saidi also produced a remarkable performance to lift the U-15 Girls’ Singles trophy after a series of outstanding victories.

Following the successful championship, ITTF Africa President Wahid Oshodi, praised the exceptional quality of competition and expressed confidence in the future of African table tennis.

“The future of African table tennis is very bright,” Oshodi said. “The performances we have seen here in Accra prove that the next generation has arrived. These young players have shown remarkable talent, discipline and confidence, and they are ready to compete at the highest level.”
