Ghana’s women’s national volleyball team Qualify for 2026 Women’s African Nations Championship After Dominant Zone III Campaign

Ghana’s women’s national volleyball team, the Black Spikers, have officially qualified for the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Championship following an outstanding performance at the CAVB Zone III Women’s Championship in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Black Spikers sealed their qualification in emphatic fashion by defeating Togo 3-0 in their final match of the competition, completing an unbeaten campaign and underlining their dominance in the regional championship.

Ghana controlled the contest from start to finish, recording convincing set victories of 25-18, 25-13, and 25-09 to wrap up the tournament in style.

The commanding straight-sets victory highlighted the team’s attacking strength, disciplined defending, and excellent teamwork as they outclassed their West African rivals to secure a place at the continental showpiece.

The qualification is another significant milestone for Ghanaian volleyball and reflects the steady progress of the women’s national team under the guidance of the technical team and the Ghana Volleyball Association.

The Black Spikers’ impressive campaign in Abidjan demonstrated their determination and consistency throughout the tournament, earning them a deserved ticket to Africa’s biggest women’s volleyball competition.

The 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Championship will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 23 to September 5, 2026. The tournament will be staged across three venues: the Kasarani Indoor Arena, Brookhouse School, and the Ulinzi Sports Complex, where Africa’s top women’s volleyball nations will compete for continental honours.

Ghana will now shift its focus to preparations for the championship, aiming to make a strong impact against the continent’s elite teams.

The qualification has been welcomed as a major boost for volleyball in Ghana, with congratulations pouring in for the players, coaches, management, and everyone who contributed to the team’s success.

With confidence high after their impressive Zone III campaign, the Black Spikers will head to Nairobi determined to represent Ghana with pride and compete for honours on the continental stage.
