Ghana’s Rugby Women 7s Team, the Eagles, Ready to Take on Africa’s Best in Nairobi

The Ghana Rugby Women’s 7s team, affectionately known as the Eagles, has been ranked 7th ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens (RAW7s) tournament, set to kick off on November 15 and 16 at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya.

This year’s tournament promises to be a thrilling competition, featuring 12 teams from across the continent, including host nation Kenya, defending champions South Africa, and other rugby powerhouses like Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Côte d’Ivoire.

In the lead-up to the tournament, the Eagles have been preparing hard, drawing on their experience from the 2024 Africa Women’s Sevens, where they finished 7th out of 12 teams.

Despite winning two games and recording four defeats, the team is eager to improve their performance and make a strong impression on the international stage.

The Eagles are placed in Pool B alongside host nation Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire, and they will face these formidable opponents in the upcoming tournament. Their fixtures for Day 1 are as follows:

– Ghana vs Côte d’Ivoire – 9:44 AM (EAT)
– Ghana vs Kenya – 4:06 PM (EAT)

The tournament will feature four pools, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the knockout stage. The pools are as follows:

Pool A: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mauritius
Pool B: Kenya, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire
Pool C: Uganda, Zambia, Burkina Faso
Pool D: Madagascar, Tunisia, Egypt
