Ghana Wins Silver in Region 2 AirBadminton Championship
Ghana’s AirBadminton team has made the country proud by winning silver in the recently concluded Region 2 AirBadminton Championship as host nation. The tournament, which featured five West African countries including Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast, showcased the skills and talents of young players from the region.
Benin emerged as the overall champion, claiming the gold medal, while Ghana’s silver medal finish was a notable achievement. Ivory Coast rounded out the podium with a bronze medal. The Region 2 AirBadminton Championship provided a platform for players to showcase their skills and compete against top-notch opponents from the region.
In a related development, Ghana also participated in the Africa AirBadminton Championships 2025, held at Laboma Beach in Accra, where they secured silver in the Mix Team Relay event. The championships saw Egypt and Mauritius dominate the competition, with both teams winning several gold medals and qualifying for the upcoming Air Badminton World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
AirBadminton is a new outdoor version of the traditional indoor game, designed to be played on various surfaces, including hard courts, grass, and sand. The game is played with three players on the court and aims to create opportunities for people of all ages to play badminton in diverse settings, from parks and playgrounds to streets and beaches.
