Ghana Cricket Invites 16 Players To Camp For Women’s Invitational T20 Tournament In Lagos

The Senior National female Cricket Coach, Obed Harvey has called to camp, 16 players ahead of the Nigeria Cricket Federation’s (NCF) Women’s Invitational T20 Tournament scheduled for later this month in Lagos.

Ghana will be participating in the third edition of the Invitational tournament after honoring last year’s edition.

The 16 top female players cuts across notable Cricket hubs in Ghana, Ashanti, Accra, Eastern and Central Regions.

Getting their first call ups to the national Team camp include Priscilla Oppongbea (Eastern), Grace Quaicoe (Central) and Komalpreet Grewal (Accra).

Making a return to the team are Jacqueline Kokam, and Christiana Nyameke, who both featured in the 2018 NWACC tournament hosted by Ghana at the Achimota Cricket Oval after making the squad for the maiden edition of the NWACC in Gambia.

Captain Rhyda Ofori Amanfo, Rozabel Asumadu, Elizabeth Annor, Ellen Otu Asante, Rashidatu Salia and Miriam Eshun make up the invite.

The rest are Ivy Kyerewaa Yeboah, Kate Awuah, Emmanuella Nyaaba, Beatrice Oduro and Cynthia Ankobea Konadu.

They’re expected to begin residential camping from Wednesday, March 15, till departure to the tournament that runs from March 25, through to April 3, 2023.

The squad will however be pruned to a final 14 before the tournament.

Ghana would love to improve upon their previous performance at Lagos with intense preparation, as the target of making women Cricket become very competitive in Ghana, become a base.

Ghana finished 4th at the tournament, after losing to Sierra Leone in the 3rd place game, as Rwanda beat host Nigeria in the finals to win the 2nd edition.
