GFDA – EASTERN REGIONAL WORKSHOP/ TRAINING PROJECT

The Ghana Flying Disc Association together with the Eastern Regional Flying Disc Association held a coaches training workshop for coaches and athletes from a couple of schools within the Eastern region of Ghana. The training was facilitated by GFDA Head of Technical Department Mr. George Mensah.

The program was attended by
1. Presbyterian Senior Technical School itself represented by Mr. Biney (Head of Department, Physical Education), Miss Beatrice Dotse(Former Head of Department. Physical Education), Mr. Mawuli, Mr. James and some students like sports perfects Bright Kweku, Deborah and soccer player Caroline.

2. Aburi Girls Senior High School represented by Mr. Hadad Bempah and Miss Kande Nora (Sports Department).

3. Adonten Senior High School represented by Mr. Eric E. Beecham ( Sports Administration) and Madam Mary O. Amoah (Physical Education Department), and

4. Diaspora Girls Senior High School who was solely represented by Mr Mliwomor, Head of Department, Physical Education.

The event provided the platform for the coaches and athletes to learn more about the disc sports games and the basic techniques for playing Ultimate Frisbee and disc golf. In an interaction with the students, Eastern Regional Flying Disc Association Chairman Mr. John Arinze urged them to take disc sports serious since it has the potential to help them enhance their overall health and well-being as students. Mr. Samuel Cobbinah Abraham, a board member of the GFDA and the also the Greater Accra Regional Chairman also informed the coaches of GFDA’s plan to train coaches at the various region and also create a platform for youth athletes to excel and make Ghana proud through disc sports.


As the GFDA NP4 takes off, the association hopes to reach all 16 region of Ghana in the coming months and we are calling on all stakeholders to come on board and join the organization as we promote disc sports for youth development.
