During his first spell with the Phobians, the fans roared the name of Benjamin Afutu with unadulterated love. It wasn’t just his goals and assists that endeared him to the fans but his defensive abilities on and off the ball that made him a fan favourite.

The combative midfielder left the Phobians to joined Egyptian side, Eastern Company SC on a four year deal after leaving Hearts of Oak as a free agent in 2021 but his move became a nightmare as he failed to nail down a regular spot in the team and he terminated his contract just after six months and he is currently in Ghana.

Benjamin Afutu enjoyed a great 2020/21 season with Hearts of Oak. The midfielder featured in 32 games for the Phobians in all competitions, scoring 7 goals and provided 4 assists.
