‘Brilliant’ Jordan Ayew Scores In Crystal Palace Heavy Win

Ghana’s Jordan Ayew broke his goal scoring duck for the season as Crystal Palace walloped Leeds United to move up to sixth position on the English Premier League log.

Goals from skipper Scott Dann, Eberechi Eze, Jordan Ayew interlaced with an own goal from Portuguese Helder Costa were enough to see off Leeds United at the Selhurst park on Saturday afternoon.

The home side broke the deadlock through captain Scott Dann when he connected from an Eberechi Eze cross in the 12th minute.

Five minutes later in-form English striker Patrick Bamford netted his seventh goal for the season but his joy was truncated harshly by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Eze, who was running the show for the Eagles scored a peach of a goal from a freekick to double the lead for the homesters much to the chagrin of Leeds United.

However, Bamford was not denied for the second time as he fired home from close range to halve the deficit but his efforts was thwarted by team mate Helder Costa whose supposed clearance went straight into the net of Leeds United.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian attacker Jeffrey Schlupp was also introduced into the frey after 71 minutes as Palace eased to a 4-1 home win despite Leeds picking up the lion’s share of the possession.

The results catapults Crystal Palace to sixth position with thirteen points – three points adrift first-placed Southampton and a single point away fr top four position.

Ayew will hope to carry his form to the international break when Ghana squares off against Sudan in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations double-header.
