BECHEM 2-0 KOTOKO: Hunters gun down high-flying Porcupine in outstanding league fixture

Bechem United hand Asante Kotoko first defeat of the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League season after humbling them by 2-0 in an outstanding week 2 tie at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Thursday.

Two either half goals from captain Kofi Agbesimah and Emmanuel Avornyo powered the Hunters to their second victory of the season.

The visitors begun well, and looked dominant especially in the early stages in terms of possession with no any dangerous incursion made.

The homesters just after settling down, got themselves a penalty after Seth Kwadwo’s free kick from the left went off the hand of John Tedeku in the box on the 22nd minute.

Skipper Kofi Agbesimah stepped up and scored beautifully to put Bechem United ahead.

In the second half, the Hunters opened up and were still driving more men forward with no intention of sitting deep in their half to preserve their lead.

Their sumptuous build up earned them a free kick at a very advantageous position but the delivery took a deflection for a wasted corner kick.

On the 50th minute, Enoch Morrison broke with a blistering run to send a powerful hit but went out for a goalkick.

On the 63rd minute, Emmanuel Avornyo doubled the host lead with a close range tap in from Clinton Duodu’s cross.

The champions appealed for a penalty on the 89th minute after Steven Mukwala was brought down in the box but the referee wasn’t interested in that.

Substitute Stephen Amankona was also giving the matching orders due to gross insolence towards the referee.

It ended 2-0 for Bechem United after full time- their second win of the season whiles Kotoko taste first defeat.
