Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan and renowned sports executive Sammy Anim Addo have arrived in Argentina to join Ghanaian boxer John Abaja Laryea as he prepares for one of the biggest fights of his professional career.
The duo, who are key figures behind Baby Jet Promotions, have travelled to Buenos Aires to offer their support to Laryea ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with Argentine boxer Adrian Maximiliano Robledo on August 15, 2026.
Their presence adds an extra layer of motivation for Laryea, who is set to step into enemy territory for a crucial international bout against a formidable home fighter.
Laryea, popularly known as the “Expensive Boxer,” enters the contest with an impressive unbeaten professional record of 17 wins and one draw, having established himself as one of Ghana’s brightest boxing talents.
The two-time WBO Africa Featherweight champion will face Robledo, who boasts a record of 13 wins and one defeat, in what promises to be a stern examination of the Ghanaian’s skills, composure and championship credentials.
For Baby Jet Promotions, the trip to Argentina underlines the company’s commitment to supporting Laryea beyond the ropes and ensuring that the boxer feels the full backing of his team as he takes on a major challenge on foreign soil.

Asamoah Gyan, one of Ghana’s most celebrated footballers and the founder of Baby Jet Promotions alongside Sammy Anim Addo, has been instrumental in supporting the growth of boxing and other sporting talents through his promotional outfit.
Anim Addo, who serves as Chief Executive Officer of Baby Jet Promotions, has also played a key role in managing and developing Laryea’s career.
Laryea’s journey has already been marked by several significant achievements. He captured the IBF Continental Africa Featherweight title after defeating Holy Dorgbetor in December 2025 and has also enjoyed success on the international stage.
The undefeated boxer made his United States debut in late 2024, securing an impressive victory over Alexander Mejia.
Based at the Bronx Gym in Accra, Laryea trains under experienced coach Lawrence Carl Lokko, who has helped sharpen the Ghanaian’s technical and physical qualities as he continues his rise through the professional ranks.
Now, with Asamoah Gyan and Sammy Anim Addo by his side in Argentina, Laryea will be looking to produce another statement performance and return home with his unbeaten record intact.
The August 15 encounter in Buenos Aires represents more than just another fight. For Laryea, it is an opportunity to announce himself on an even bigger international stage and demonstrate that Ghana has another formidable force ready to carry the nation’s boxing tradition forward.
With the support of his team behind him, the “Expensive Boxer” is ready to enter the ring and fight for Ghana.
